Eastie through the Decade

Over the past 10 years, East Boston has become THE up-and-coming area in Boston. The neighborhood has grown immensely and continues to, with no signs of stopping. As the turn of the decade nears, Slip45 takes a look at some of the most exciting changes for East Boston that make it such a great place to live.

2013: East Boston Public Library

The East Boston Public Library opened its doors to the community and is still being enjoyed today. The beautifully designed open library allows Eastie to come together in a common space, inspired by the diversity of the neighborhood. Offering citizenship classes, children’s play groups and lecture series EBPL is truly a place of learning, collaboration, and community.

2015: New Green Spaces

Massport opened the Neptune Rd Airport Buffer, a 2-acre park that serves as an oasis in the middle of the transportation hub. Over the years, other green spaces have popped up, including Bremen Street Park, home to a dog park, playground, and performance amphitheater. These green spaces give the community areas to exercise, relax, and enjoy nature.

2019: Slip45 at Clippership Wharf

Most recently, Clippership Wharf was built providing public access to this area of the shoreline for the first time in more than 25 years. With sustainability in mind, the project included the restoration of the living shoreline along the harbor. The new open public areas serve as a space for showcasing public art and hosting community gatherings.

With all that’s happening in Eastie, it’s easy to see why its one of Boston’s most desirable neighborhoods. As East Boston looks to the next 10 years, there is even more progress in the works. The city recently broke ground on a state-of-the-art police station, that will also serve as a community space full of public art. Other exciting projects include Maverick Corner, which will house a cafe, fitness center, restaurant and third-floor viewing deck, giving more Boston based businesses a home in Eastie.

Slip45 is excited to be a part of the progress in East Boston. Ready to live in Boston’s most up-and-coming neighborhood? Book an appointment.
